Peshawar led the women Games by winning first position in Basketball, Baseball, Hockey and Handball in the ongoing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Regional Men and Women Games being played on different venues at Charsadda, Peshawar and Mardan on Monday. Peshawar got in lead after winning all the four women disciplines. Peshawar also qualified for the final of Cricket and Volleyball. Deputy Commissioner Charsadda Muntazir Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Director Sports Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, Director Development Salim Raza, District Sports Officer Tehsin Ullah, officials and large number of players were also present.
On the second the players of Peshawar were dominated the major games while Hazara dominated in the Martial Arts Games comprising Judo, Taekwondo, Wushu. In the Judo Hazara, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar were qualified for the finals while in Taekwondo Mardan, Kohat and Bannu dominated and their players were entered into finals.
In the athletic event played at BISE ground, Peshawar won four gold medals, three silver medals by securing 40 points, Mardan with three gold medals, got 38 points with second position and Hazara remained at third. In the Basketball Peshawar defeated Swat by 25-15 points. Peshawar recorded victory against Hazara at 20-18 and Swat recorded victory against Kohat at 19-13.
In the hockey final Peshawar recorded an upsetting victory Mardan in the thrilling match. Peshawar conceded a goal against Mardan in the very outset of the match when Jalwa scored a beautiful goal through field attempt. This was Irum who sounded the board with her forceful hit. Both the teams were tied 1-1 at half time. It was the second session in which Peshawar scored the winner goals through field attempt and thus won the trophy.
In the rounder Mardan defeated Hazara by 11-7. Mardan dominated the field and did not give much chance to Hazara to strike back. In the Baseball Peshawar defeated Hazara by 9-5 and in the Handball Peshawar defeated Mardan by 5-4 in another thrilling match. In the Netball Mardan defeated Swat by 12-9 and thus won the trophy.
In the Male Archery Peshawar recorded first position followed by Swat and Mardan. Peshawar Musa won gold medal, Swat Idrees won silver medal and Suleman of Peshawar, Waqar of Mardan got bronze medals respectively.
Secretary General Pakistan Archery Federation Muhammad Wisal Khan was the chief guest on this occasion. Director General Sports Junaid Khan, Director Operation Syed Saqlain Shah, AD Youth Munir Abbas were also present.
In the Male Basketball Swat defeated Kohat by 56-22 and Hazara beat Mardan by 58-26 and Peshawar beat Dera Ismail Khan by 62-09. Now in the semi-final Bannu will face Swat and Hazara will clash against Peshawar on Tuesday.
In the Male Taekwondo Kohat won four gold medal, two silver medal by securing 105 points, Dera Ismail Khan got two gold medal, two silver medal and three bronze medals by securing 84 points, and Hazara with three silver medal and five bronze medals secured 75 points.
In the athletic male Peshawar clinched the overall trophy by securing 47 points with six gold medals, three silver medal and three bronze medals, followed by Bannu with two gold medal, four silver medal and one bronze medals and Mardan took third position with two silver medal and one bronze medals.
Peshawar's Bilal Ahmad was declared as best athlete and fastest athlete award when he won the 100m sprint race with a good time 10.47sec. Jehanzeb of Bannu got silver medal and Muhammad Salim of Dera Ismail Khan got third position. In the 200m Peshawar's Bilal got first position, followed by Rehman of Mardan and Muhammad Saleem of Dera Ismail Khan.
In the 400m Bilal Ahmad got third gold medal, Rehman Ali of Mardan got second and Adnan Akbar of Peshawar got bronze medal. In the 800m Adnan of Peshawar got gold medal, followed by Nouman of Bannu and Muhammad Asif won bronze medal. In the 4X100m relay Peshawar won gold medal, Bannu and Mardan took second and third position respectively.
In the long jump Abdul Wahab of Peshawar won gold medal, Murtaza got silver medal and Jehanzeb won bronze medal. In the Discus throw Bannu Nouman got gold medal, followed by Osama and Hassan Saeed of Hazara.
In the Javelin throw Muhammad Ilyas won gold medal, Shams of Peshawar and Abu Zar of Peshawar. In shot put Nouman of Bannu won gold medal, Abu Zar got silver medal and Qadir won bronze medals.
