Industrialists of North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) have asked Chief of the Army Staff, Chief Justice of Pakistan and Sindh's Governor and Chief Minister to play their role to help resolve gas shortage and gas pressure issue on priority basis. This demand was made at an emergency meeting presided over by NKATI president Shahid Sabir that was held to discuss issue of shortage of natural gas and its low pressure which has a widespread impact on industrial units in North Karachi Industrial Area where poor gas pressure made units almost inoperative.
NKATI's industrialists expressed their disappointment over frequent and abrupt drop in gas pressure in largest industrial estate. Owing to low gas pressure, industries are not in a position to meet their targets which would put export-oriented industries in a very awkward position. They said government failed to provide gas, water and power to run industrial units efficiently and at least 6 days in a week. They also blamed SSGC for hampering industrial production by low pressure gas supply.
