Five people of a family were killed in a blast due to gas leakage in Peshawar's local hotel on Friday morning. The police said the blast occurred at the fourth floor of Afreen Hotel located at Bilal Town due to gas leakage and resultantly, fired erupted that engulfed upper portion of the building.
Mst Najma wife of Gul Dad Khan, Mst Nargis wife of Kamran, son of Kamran, Mehran son of Guldad Khan and Abbas Khan died on the spot in the blast while Kamran and Amir sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar.
Police said the victims belonged to Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The rescue and fire fighters teams rushed to the site and extinguished the fire. Officials of Bomb Disposal Squad also reached site of the blast and collected evidences.
The windowpanes and front elevation glass of the hotel were shattered due to high intensity of the blast while six cars damaged after bricks and broken plasters fell on them. Police have started investigation.
