Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Haleem Adil Sheikh on Tuesday filed a petition in Sindh High Court against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to seek registration of a treason case against him for his May 12 interview, in which he put the blame of Mumbai attacks on Pakistan. The petitioner stated that Nawaz Sharif committed treason by putting the blame of Mumbai attacks on Pakistan. He prayed that name of former prime minister should be put in ECL. He also requested the court to direct Federal Interior Ministry to register a case against Nawaz Sharif on treason charges.
PTI leader also sought the court's intervention to direct PEMRA to ban airing of Nawaz Sharif' speeches and statements and prayed for immediate action against former premier for his anti-Pakistan statement. He wants treason case against Nawaz Sharif should be registered under article 6 of the constitution. Federal government, Interior Ministry and Information Ministry have been made respondents in the petition.
Talking to the media in the premises of SHC after filing the petition, Haleem Adil Sheikh said Nawaz Sharif compromised the national security by giving said irresponsible and anti-Pakistan statement and proved himself as traitor by going against the national interest. He called for stern action against Nawaz because of the anti-Pakistan statement which, PTI leader said, ex-PM made to strengthen friendship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
