The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday took notice of maladministration in the provision of free wheat to families registered under Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) at district Tharparkar. Chief Justice SHC Ahmed Ali Sheikh took the notice after media reports emerged about mismanagement in provision of free wheat to families in Tharparkar District.
According to the notice of the SHC, the Sindh Government announced to provide free of cost wheat to the deserving persons of District Tharparkar, but due to shortage of staff at food godown only few deserving women succeeded to get the same in a huge crowd.
As only one inspector and a clerk were available at godown to supply the wheat and numbers of women returned back to their homes with empty handed after waiting under scorching sun the whole day. The Chief Justice High Court sought report from district and session judge concerned and directed Director General BISP Sindh, Deputy Commissioner and District Food Controller concerned to appear on May 25, 2018.
