The Punjab government has announced to organise 'mango production competition 2018-19' with the aim to introduce a healthy competitive environment among mango growers with ultimate objective of producing best quality and best varieties of mangoes. The Spokesman of Agriculture Department said on Friday that mango growers belonging to District Multan, Khanewal, Rahim Yar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Vehari, Jhang and Bhawalnagar can apply for this competition.
Interested farmers who have more than three acre land will be eligible to take part in it. Joint-farming community members can also apply for it. Tenant and contractors can also apply after verification of their documents from tehsil committee. The competitors will have to show mango varieties including Samar Bahist, Chaunsa or Sindhari and White Chaunsa in the competition.
Interested mango growers can get application forms from office of their district appointee Assistant Director Agriculture (Ext) or Agriculture Officer (Ext). Farmers may also download these application forms from official website of Agriculture Department (www.agripunjab.gov.pk). Farmers will have to submit their complete application form till 11th June 2018. The spokesman further said that this mango competition will pave a way to increase production of best varieties/quality of mangoes in Punjab.
