Pakistan on Saturday rejected a statement issued by the official of Afghan press agency on the merger of the tribal areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, urging the Afghan side to adhere to the principles of non-interference in other countries internal affairs.
"Our parliament's decision reflects the will of the people of Pakistan. The principles of non-interference and non-intervention in the conduct of bilateral relations need be scrupulously adhered to by Afghanistan," Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal while reacting sharply to the statement attributed to senior Afghan officials to have voiced concerns over the move. Afghanistan's minister for borders and tribal affairs has reportedly warned that the Afghan government would take up the issue with United Nations, citing the alleged disputed status of Pakistan's tribal areas, set to be merged with KP province.
