The provincial government signed an agreement to overcome falling level of underground water due to long drought and less rain in Balochistan. The provincial cabinet meeting held here on Tuesday was briefed about this agreement made with foreign company, Client Global Control Trading.
Under this agreement the company would initially cause artificial rainfall on trial basis over the four dams situated in Gwadar district of Makran Division, covering around 10,000 square kilometre area. In the event of success, the government will make a year contract with the proposed company, which will provide artificial rainfall in different areas of the province, especially in the suburban areas of Quetta, this would increase underground water levels.
The cabinet was informed that the relevant company had done successful tryouts of artificial raining in Dubai and Iran, while the project had been practically implemented after consulting the technicians. The cabinet approved the proposed project, and directed to form a team comprising Department of Environment and Irrigation experts, who would be visiting Dubai to review model of this project and will set up its report.
In order to ensure best utilization of funds for the physically disabled people in the province, the cabinet decided that the government will initially provide a grant of Rs 4000 to physically-disabled people from across the province and later on with the help of social welfare organizations, this amount would be increased. While funds apportioned for people with physical disabilities were also approved to be increased from Rs 500 million to Rs 2000 million, in today's meeting.
The cabinet also approved Balochistan Protection against Harassment of Women at Work Place Rules 2018, Balochistan Local Government amendment Bill 2018, Balochistan Protection of communal properties bill 2017, which would be presented in the assembly soon. Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo expressed deep sorrow over the target killing of two traffic police personnel on the Sirki road in Quetta last week, in the meeting of the provincial cabinet.
He applauded the act of heroism showed by Falcon security personnel's, who took timely action against two terrorists and exterminated them on the spot. Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said, "we have to spend our resources in a very careful way, and we are no more in a position to bear misuse of these resources." He said that if every department and institution performs its duties with responsibility then there was no reason why the development projects cannot be completed in a given time frame and our province could not progress.
