The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday sealed two factories on the charges of preparing substandard fruit base and flavor for producing different beverages and juices. PFA Director General Noorul-Amin Mengal informed the media persons that the raiding teams also confiscated 2500 kilograms of ready fruit base and other equipment being used to produce these fake fruit flavor. All confiscated material was wasted on the spot.
Both the factories, namely QBC Fruit Base and Ashraf Fruit Base, were working in the residential area of Sabzazar Colony. Mengal said fruit base prepared by chemicals are very dangerous for human beings as it can result in depression or weak nervous system. It can also generate different abdominal and intestine diseases. The DG further said that the authority's vigilance teams raided over 10 factories producing substandard juices and cold drinks.
