The footage further showed the victim standing at a corner of a road along with a few other men filling bottles from a water cooler and then suddenly falling to the ground. The victim's family members also staged a protest demonstration against the armed police officials by placing the body of Atif on Ring Road. Till filing of this report, they pledged not to bury the body until justice is served.
The mother of Atif lamented her son's untimely death. She asked the authorities why her innocent son was killed. Dolphin Force Superintendent of Police (SP) Nadeem Khokhar dispelled the notion that Atif was killed with the firing of Dolphin Force officials. He said the boy was killed by the firing of alleged criminals. When the officials tried to stop the suspects, they opened fired at them, leading to an exchange of fire which resulted in the death of the teenager, he said.
During the chase, he said, they apprehended five suspects who hail from Sheikhupura, Chiniot, and Lahore. "The suspects had rented a car to commit crimes in Lahore," he said, assuring the media that they will thoroughly investigate the incident.
