The City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore has decided in principal to take on board all major trade bodies before devising a coordinated and hassle-free traffic plan for the provincial capital during Ramazan. Presided over by City Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Rai Ijaz Ahmed, it was decided in the meeting held here at Qurban Lines on Wednesday to review traffic-related arrangements of various markets including shops, malls, plazas, Ramazan Bazaars and distribution of Iftaris among traffic wardens at their duty points. He also reviewed in detail the steps taken for the welfare of traffic wardens and progress of driving schools.
Speaking on the occasion, the CTO directed to take into confidence all the trading community before finalising the traffic plan for all commercial markets and other sensitive spots of the city. He said the officials should ensure strict action against persons found involved in wrong parking and one-way driving.
He reiterated the need not to spare traffic violators, especially one-way drivers which not only disrupt the flow of traffic but also put lives of citizens at a high risk. "We have also deployed additional wardens around all major markets or bazaars by providing them additional fork-lifters to ensure smooth flow of traffic," he informed the participants.
The CTO further said that the wardens should erect security barriers on all one-way roads or points, adding the officials will perform their duties at the aforementioned points till the end of the holy month. He also directed all Superintendents of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) to submit names of both male and lady wardens who performed their duties diligently so that they could arrange a prize distribution ceremony for them.
