The Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PPDWP) has approved Rs 25.5 billion for improvement of health facilities in government hospitals, prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases and Integrated Reproductive Maternal Newborn & Child Health (IRMNCH) Nutrition Programme.
According to official sources, Rs 13.34 billion will be spent on revamping of 24 DHQs Hospitals, with new blocks, hepatitis filter clinic and CT scan machine and pathology labs to ensure implementation on Minimum Service Delivery Standards and special measures for infection control, cleanliness and maintenance of hygienic environment in the hospitals.
Rs 2.37 billion have been allocated for prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer. They said about Rs 10 billion would be spent on Integrated Reproductive Maternal Newborn & Child Health (IRMNCH) Nutrition Programme up to June, 2019.
The PPDWP in the 69th meeting of current fiscal year presided over by Chairman P&D Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan and attended by Provincial Secretaries and other senior representatives of the relevant departments also approved four other projects included: Development of Master Plan for the Bahawalpur City (PC-II) at the cost of Rs 35.600 million, Dualization of Khanewal Lodhran Road, District Khanewal (Revised) at the cost of Rs 8771.571 million, Capacity building of P&D Department for Improved Policy Planning and Monitoring Development Process in Punjab (Phase-II), Lahore (Revised) and Construction of building of Government College Women University Sialkot at the cost of Rs 2199.218 million.
