Private Schools Regulatory Authority (PSRA) Khyber Pakthunkhwa on Thursday launched crackdown against schools charging additional fees from students and closed down several schools at University Town, Dalazak Road and Faqirabad locality.
The authority summoned owners of all those private schools on Friday, who are not giving summer vacations to students and charging additional fee despite clear orders of the authority regarding Peshawar High Court (PHC) and decided to impose heavy fine against violators.
In Peshawar, special teams were constituted under the direct supervision of Managing Director, Private Schools Regulatory Authority, Syed Zafar Ali Shah following complaints of parents of additional fee charged by private schools. The teams conducted raids on different schools at University Road, Dalazak Road, Warsak Road and other areas. Fee registers of the schools were checked and several private schools were closed down on the grounds of charging additional fee and not giving summer vacations to students.
