The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled bail of a blind man, who is accused of firing at a girl in the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi's Waris Khan police station last year, and directed police to arrest him. A three-member bench comprising Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah noted if accused Israr Ahmad was blind then how he had been possessing two valid licences of ammunition.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa noted that most possibly the accused turned blind in any accident after committing the crime of firing. He regretted that doctor often makes contact with the concerned party before issuing medical report.
He maintained that before issuing medical report, a doctor often asks the party which type of report he is needed. He asked police not to make mockery of the system by presenting illogical reports.
He said that the record of the case showed mala fide intention on part of the police. "Why should investigation officer of the case not be sent to jail from here?" he questioned. He said that the police just change the caps, instead of fair investigation.
An assistant sub-inspector then contended that the investigation officer of the case was another one and the file of the case was recently handed over to him.
The counsel for the accused contended that the court may order re-medical examination of his client from any doctor, whom it deemed suitable. Another counsel stated that the accused fired eight bullet shots at the girl and all the proofs against the accused are available on record.
Israr Ahmad was accused of firing eight bullet shots on a girl in December 2017. A case of firing and attempt to murder was registered against him with Waris Khan police station of Rawalpindi city.
