PTI floats another four names for slot of caretaker Punjab CM

Amid confusion, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday floated another four names for the post of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab which include Orya Maqbool Jan, Dr. Hassan Askari, Yaqoob Izhar and Ayaz Mir. The PTI leadership appears to be divided over the nomination of the caretaker CM in Punjab. The announcements of the names were separately made from Islamabad and Lahore, but the lists of names did not match.
While talking to the media, Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed announced that the PTI has proposed the names of former bureaucrat and columnist Orya Maqbool Jan and businessman Yaqoob Izhar for the slot. He told the reporters that he will meet outgoing Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday to finalise the names.
However, on Twitter PTI Central Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry disclosed that his party has proposed the names of Dr. Hassan Askari, a defense analyst, Ayaz Amir, a columnist, and Yaqoob Izhar, a businessman. Fawad Chaudhry's list did not carry the name of Orya Maqbool Jan while in the list of the opposition leader the names of Askari and Ayaz Amir were missing.
However in his video message to the media, Mehmood-ur-Rasheed clarified that during a meeting with Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal on Friday the subject of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab came under discussion and initially he conveyed new names of Orya Maqbool Jan and Yaqoob Izhar for the post of caretaker Chief Minister Punjab that was decided by the party. However, he said, later the name of Ayaz Mir was also floated by the party for the said post. "By this time my meeting with the Speaker was concluded and I had already addressed the media regarding the new names," he added. He revealed that now they have floated three new names - Orya Maqbool Jan, Yaqoob Izhar and Ayaz Amir for the slot of the caretaker CM and he has conveyed these names to the Speaker. "In addition to that, Dr Hassan Askari's name was already floated by the party a few days ago and thus we have now nominated four names for the position of caretaker CM which will make the process of selection easy," he added. He disclosed that they will table these four names in the final round of a meeting with the (outgoing Punjab Chief Minister) on Sunday.
