The Karachi Port handled 333,656 tonnes of cargo comprising 272,504 tonnes of import cargo and 61,152 tonnes of export cargo including 7,775 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 272,504 tonnes comprised of 99,512 tonnes of containerised cargo; 34,383 tonnes of bulk cargo; 7,012 tonnes of rock phosphate; 6,011 tonnes of soyabean meal; 24,254 tonnes of DAP and 101,332 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,152 tonnes comprised of 51,395 tonnes of containerised cargo; 350 tonnes of bulk cargo; 5,907 tonnes of wheat and 3,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 7,775 containers comprising of 3,268 containers import and 4,507 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,209 of 20's and 1,016 of 40's loaded while 13 of 20's and 07 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 894 of 20's and 468 of 40's loaded containers while 519 of 20's and 1,079 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were nine ships namely Virgo, Xin Xia Men, Northern Dedication, Orient Star, Chemway Arrow, MT Shalamar, Liaki Freedom, Smart Tina and Da Zi Yun carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Hyundai Courage, Virgo, Xin Xia Men, MT Karachi, Liaki Freedom and Nu Shi Nalini carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 73,075 tonnes includes 7,925 tonnes of furnace oil; 800 tonnes of palm oil; 29,779 tonnes of coal; 2,921 tonnes of canola; 4,936 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 26,714 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 24,510 tonnes includes 24,510 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 2,696 containers comprising of 1,406 containers import and 1,290 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There was one ship namely CV Uni Florida carrying containers sailed out to sea on Monday morning. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, CV Yuan Jin, CV Uni Florida, MV Valadon, MV Navios Centarus, MV JPS Barcelona and MT Lion-M were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, canola seeds and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV MSC Paris, CV MSC Candice, MV Reem-3, MV Royal Prince, MV New Able, MV Amadeus, MV Coventry, MT Jo Pinari, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Ibela, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, bitumen, soyabean, canola seeds, Mo Gas, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Paris, CV MSC Candice, MV Royal Prince and MV Genaro Levoli carrying containers, condensate, bitumen and chemical expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Monday. There were three ships namely CV Virgo, CV Al Ghero and MV Genaro Levoli carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Monday.
