The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought detailed replies from Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and others in Aqama holding case of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)'s central leader Faryal Talpur and former provincial ministers of Sindh and directed them to submit responses by July 25, 2018.
Separate petitions were filed in Sindh High Court against Faryal Talpur, former provincial ministers of Sindh Manzoor Wassan, Nasir Hussain Shah & Sohail Anwar Sial and former member Sindh Assembly Sardar Ghaibi Nawab Chandio.
Petitioners sought the disqualification of leaders of PPP for holding Aqamas and not declaring them in their nomination papers in the last general elections. They also prayed for their disqualification to run for next election after they didn't remain Sadiq & Ameen
A division bench headed by Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar resumed the hearing on the case. Counsels of Nasir Hussain Shah and Sardar Chandio submitted the replies in the court.
Counsel of Nasir Shah informed the court that Nasir Hussian Shah surrendered his aqama in 2012 and no more holds it. He prayed that the hearing should be conducted to decide about the petition before his client is running for a provincial seat in Sindh for next general elections.
The court, however, observed that let the replies from all the parties concerned come then the court would hear the case.
Farooq Naek, Counsel of Faryal Talpur sought time to submit the reply on behalf of his client as he didn't receive the court notice yet. The petition against Faryal Talpur stated that she established a company in the name of her daughter Ayesha in 2002 in Duabi and transferred the money from Pakistan. She didn't declare it in her nomination papers submitted for contesting last general elections, so didn't remain Sadiq & Ameen.
Federal and provincial governments along with the ECP, which are respondents in the petitions, have also sought the time for submitting their replies. The court approved granting the time and directed the ECP and others to submit their detailed replies by July 25, 2018.
Meanwhile, K-Electric (KE) and Nepra submitted undertakings in SHC about loadshedding in Karachi. Nepra stated that it has bound KE to overcome the unannounced loadshedding in Karachi whereas the power utility claimed it is not resorting to unannounced loadshedding after fixing the problem at its Bin Qasim Power Plant.
The undertakings were submitted in SHC which is hearing a petition seeking action against KE and Nepra for not implementing court orders, which barred them from unannounced loadshedding. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Hassan Azhar is hearing the petition.
The counsel for petitioner sought the time from the court to submit the rejoinder against the undertaking of KE and Nepra. The court granting the time put off the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
