Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan's nomination papers to contest from NA-243 constituency in the metropolis, has been challenged with the relevant Returning Officer (RO) citing the Sita White case. Also, the scrutiny process of the cricketer-turned politician's nomination papers was delayed till the last date for the process that is June 19. Earlier, the RO had asked Imran to appear before him in person for the scrutiny of his nomination papers on June 12 (today).
Advocate Abdul Wahab Baloch has challenged the decision of PTI chief of contesting election from NA 243 over the Sita White case. "How can a person be a contestant who does not accept his daughter," he alleged. It may be relevant to mention here that former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry a few days back hinted to challenge Imran for what he termed 'violating Article 62 (1)(f)' of the Constitution citing the same Sita White scandal and his alleged daughter Tyrian White.
PTI Chief is contesting from five constituencies including NA-26 Bannu, NA-61 Rawalpindi, NA-95 Mianwali, NA-131 Lahore and NA-243 Karachi. Imran Khan is presently performing Umrah. According to party leaders, he is likely to return to the county on June 18, and will present before the RO to defend his case on June 19.
