The online FIR registration introduced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police is receiving tremendous response from the general public as 2,643 online FIRs have been registered in the province since launching of the facility. The spokesman for the KP Police said that in Peshawar 1,326 online FIRs have been registered followed by Mardan 172, Charsadda 123, Nowshera 152, Swabi 90, Swat 49, Shangla 3, Buner 9, Dir Lower 11, Dir Upper 9, Chitral 6, Abbottabad 253, Haripur 119, Mansehra 112, Battgram 14, Kohat 587, Karak 46, Hangu 22, Bannu 30, Lakki Marwat 7, DI Khan 30 and Tank 2.
A total of 126 cases have amicably been resolved amongst the parties in the registered online FIRs while 139 FIR have been termed baseless and 2154 FIRs have been processed as per law. 41 cases of civil nature, one has been settled through DRC and 44 cases are under process.
A Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) has been chalk out for online FIR registration on its officials visit www.kppolice.gov.pk. As per the SOP, the FIR registration facility is available on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police website.
Complainants can visit the police website and submit FIRs by filling an online form. An automatic FIR ID is generated as soon as the online FIR form is submitted.
The identity of the complainant is verified from NADRA using its VERISYS facility to minimize the possibility of fake FIRs. The SHO of the concerned police station or the complainant contact each other for registration of the FIR.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Salah-ud-Din Khan Mehsood has asked the general public to fully avail the facilities of online FIR registration so that good policing could be ensured as per attached expectations.
