Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date of e-filing both the income tax withholding statement and of the sales tax monthly return of May 2018 till 25th June 2018.
In a letter written to chairman FBR, the KTBA said that gazetted EID holidays (15th June, 2018 to 18th June, 2018) is falling exactly on the due dates of filing of income tax monthly withholding statements & sales tax monthly return for the month of May 2018.
"Though the offices will reopen on 19th of June 2018, however, time would be needed again for the withholding data to be fed in the monthlies due to which it is apprehended that filing might not be practical even on 19th or 20th." It is, therefore urged to look into the matter and extend the date of filing of both the income tax withholding statement and of the sales tax monthly return of May 2018 till 25th June 2018 to ensure filing without being non-compliant.
