Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority discarded 1000 kilogram of substandard food items being seized during various operations.
According the spokesperson Attaullah Khan, the authority has discarded 100 cottons of Sachet of substandard saccharine being seized in an operation carried out near Jamil Square Peshawar. He added that more than fifty sacks of fifty kilogram each, consisting of fungus infected pulse, have also been discarded in the designated area of WSSP in Hazar Khwani.
The spokesperson giving details added that the substandard pulses used in preparing Nimko were seized during a night time operation. More than 200 liters of used oil has also been discarded at the said venue.
On the other hand, the authority has imposed a fine of one lac on an ice-cream factory situated in Chamkani area of Peshawar. The said factory was using nonfood grade colors which were against the food standards. The said factory was also violating other food safety standards against which the factory is being fined to comply with food safety standards.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority issued its first license to Green Foods Products here on Wednesday. The press release shared with media said that the license is issued in the minimal time of ten days that includes inspection visits and other documental requirements. The company who received the license has appreciated the online process of registration and prompt response of the inspection team. The press release reads that the said company has access an online application for the license after which the authority staff contacted the said factory and inspected the site as per given standards and approved it for issuance of license. It said that director general KP Food Authority Riaz Khan Mahsud himself has awarded the license declaring it a milestone of regulating food business across the province. He directed the license team to make the process easier for those who are intended to be registered.
According to press release Assistant Director Licensing Awais Ahmad told that registration for license is totally online and if there is a problem internet even one can get registered offline. He added that registration process is more easy and feasible for all kind of business owners and the authority welcomes all the food associated business owners to get license of the authority to avoid inconvenience in the future.
