A meeting of National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) Executive Board chaired by former Justice Javed Iqbal held here on Wednesday at NAB Headquarters and took following decisions. It may be clarified that NAB authorizes various inquiries, investigations and filing of references against the accused on alleged involvement in corruption and causing multi billion rupee losses to the national exchequer. The investigations are not final. The NAB would proceed ahead only after giving the accused ample opportunities to clear his position.
The executive board authorized referring the cases of illegal appointments and corruption in PTV to FIA. The meeting also authorized closing inquiry against former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and others in Khushhal Pakistan Scheme owing to absence of evidence. This proved that NAB takes action on the basis of concrete evidence as per law, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.
The EBM authorized investigation against former secretary Workers Welfare Fund Iftikhar Raheem Khan, officers and others. They have been accused of alleged illegal appointments, corruption in buying 300 kanals land for establishing medical college in Rawat on higher rates, which caused Rs 660 million losses to the national kitty. The executive board authorized conducting investigations against the management of DHA Islamabad, Bahria Town, chairman CDA and others. They are accused in illegal allotment and not developing DHA valley and DHA phase II extension. This caused irreparable losses to thousands of Pakistanis, whose losses would be compensated.
The EBM authorized closing investigations against former MPA Chaudhry Manzoor Elahi, former chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and others due to absence of evidence. The EBM authorized closing investigations against former member Public Service tribunal Abdul Hameed Khan, former President GOCHS Irfan Hameed and others owing to unavailability of concrete evidence.
The EBM approved conducting inquiry against former chief financial officer Punjab Power Development Company Ikram Naveed and others for allegedly having assets beyond known sources of income.
The EBM authorised filing corruption reference against director chairman aerolube Pvt limited Muhammad Arshad Jalil and others. They have been accused of inflicting losses to national kitty due to abuse of power and corruption.
The EBM authorised inquiry against vice chancellor Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam, Dr Mujeebur Rehman Memon and others for being accused of misappropriating University's funds and inflicting Rs 100 million losses to national kitty.
The EBM authorised inquiry against former secretary Revenue stamps and Evacuee Trust Property Government of Sindh Gul Hassan Channa, and Abdul Razzaq Qureshi. They are accused of inflicting heavy losses to national kitty by illegally transferring 770 acre government land.
The EBM approved inquiry against management of National Insurance Company NICL Karachi. Management has been accused of illegally appointing CEO NICL which caused heavy losses to national kitty. The EBM authorized other investigations against the officers of Pakistan State Oil. They have been accused of corruption, and misappropriation in purchase of petroleum products which caused Rs 142.2 billion losses to national exchequer.
The EBM approved filing corruption reference against chief of Sheladia Associates Saleem Baz Khan and others. The have been accused of committing corruption in US Aid projects. The EBM approved closing inquiry against the management of Peshawar Medical College and others owing to absence of evidence.
The EBM approved investigations against officials and officers of. Fata Education Directorate. They have been involved in illegal appointments and abuse of power thus causing losses to national kitty. The board authorised yet another inquiry against former member provincial assembly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Qasim for having assets beyond known sources of income. EBM approved conducting inquiry against former MNA Captain Safdar for having assets beyond known sources of income.-PR
