‘Take care of your own country’: Naseeruddin Shah tells PM Imran Khan not to comment on India
A few days after expressing his fear for minorities in India, Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has now given advice to Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan, who spoke about the the ill-treatment of minorities in the neighbouring country, to instead 'worry about his own country'.
Addressing an event held on Saturday to highlight the 100-day achievements of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Punjab government, the PM discussed the importance of minorities and vowed to treat minorities better than the neighboring India.
The PM also referred to Naseeruddin's recent statement regarding the treatment of minorities in India and said that Quaid-e-Azam had said the same things years ago what they are highlighting now. “We have to help our minorities and protect them as Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah laid emphasis on granting equal rights to minorities. We will show the Modi government how to treat minorities. Even in India, people are saying that minorities are not being treated as equal citizens,” the PM said.
This has not sat well with the Bollywood actor, as he replied back to the PM, telling him to 'stay away from issues that don’t concern him'. “I think Mr Khan should be walking the talk in his own country instead of commenting on issues that don’t concern him. We have been a democracy for 70 years and we know how to look after ourselves,” the veteran Bollywood actor told Indian Express.
Naseeruddin's had recently said in an interview that he fears for his children in today’s India. In a recent video interview with Karwan-e-Mohabbat India, the veteran actor had said the death of a cow was being given importance over killing of a policeman in India.
