The number of 3G and 4G users in Pakistan reached 55.47 million by end-May 2018, said Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Number of mobile phone users in Pakistan reached 150.32 million by end-May 2018 compared to 149.66 by end-April 2018, which registered an increase of 0.66 million during the period under review.
Jazz's total count for 3G users stood at 14.82 million by end-May compared to 14.92 million by end-April, registering a decrease of 0.1 million. Jazz 4G user numbers jumped from 3669794 by end-April 2018 to 4,035817 by May 2018.
Zong 3G subscribers increased from 9.34 million by end-April to 9.38 by end-May while the number of 4G users jumped from 6,779,753 by end-April to 7,086,529 by end of May.
The number of 3G users of Telenor network decreased from 10.933 million by end-April to 10.764 million by end-May 2018. The number of 4G users jumped from 2,736,597 by end-April to 2,925,219 by end of May. Ufone added 0.17 million 3G users on its network during the month of May as the total number reached 6.45 million by end of May compared to 6.28 million by end-April.
Teledensity for cellular mobile reached 73.28 percent and broadband subscribers reached 57,743,904 by end of May compared to 56,946,252 by end-April 2018. The PTA received 3,356 complaints from telecom consumers against different telecom operators including (cellular operators, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators and ISPs) as of May 2018.
According to the PTA data, the PTCL leads the chart with 897 complaints and Jazz (Mobilink+Warid) stands at second position as the most complained telecom operator with 766 complaints. The PTA said that it was able to get 3,342 complaints resolved, i.e, 99.58 percent. Cellular mobile subscribers constitute major part of overall telecom subscriber base, therefore, maximum number of complaints belong to this segment. Total number of complaints against CMOs by May 2018 stood at 2,386.
In terms of segregation of complaints on operator basis, a total of 766 complaints were received against Jazz which is 32.10 percent of the total CMO related complaints. Telenor, which has the second largest number of consumers, was second with 699 complaints, i.e, 29.29 percent complaints were received against it. Zong stood third with 492 complaints, i.e, 20.62 percent of total complaints. Ufone had 429 complaints against its various services which make up 17.97 percent of the total CMO related complaints.
