Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao vowed to strive for the rights of Pakhtuns to ensure their progress and development. "PML-N government at the Centre and PTI-led coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa failed to resolve public issues," he said, speaking at a conference at residence of tehsil nazim Yahya Khan Mohmand in Union Council Dhaki on Sunday.
QWP provincial chairman and the candidate from PK-56 Sikandar Khan Sherpao, district chairman and PK-57 candidate Arshad Umarzai, district councilor Mir Rehman Khan and others were also present. Sherpao said PTI would suffer humiliating defeat in upcoming general elections in the KP province because it has become party of feudal lords and capitalists. He said success of QWP candidates is inevitable in general elections on July 25
"So-called champions of Pakhtun rights abandoned Pakhtuns and did nothing to mitigate their sufferings," he said, claiming that his party raised voice for the cause of Pakhtuns at all platforms and would continue to make efforts to attain their rights.
QWP chairman said corruption is rampant in the country. He said major issues such as energy crisis, provision of clean drinking water, best health and education facilities to everyone and establishment of better road-infrastructure remained unresolved. He said successive governments had not undertaken any mega project in the province and perpetrated record corruption.
"Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf cheated people in the name of change; but, in fact, did nothing good for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," he said, asserting that people had become politically mature and would not vote PTI to power again. Sherpao said economy of the country was on the verge of collapse owing to flawed policies of rulers who had been serving their vested interests only.
