Prices of essential kitchen items, including chicken, vegetables, pulses, fruits, flour and other commodities have been decreased in retail market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder, here on Sunday.
Chicken is being sold at Rs 210 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 230 per kilo during last week, showing a decrease of Rs 20 per kilo in retail market. A dozen of farm eggs are being available at Rs 100 and Rs 90, the survey noticed.
Similarly, beef is being sold at Rs 350-400 per kilogram against the official rate of Rs 300 per kilogram in retail market, while mutton is available at Rs 750-800 per kilogram, the survey said.
A downward trend in prices of vegetable was also witnessed in retail market. One-kilogram tomato is being sold at Rs 30 which was selling at Rs 70 during the Eid holidays, while onion is available at Rs 30-40 per kilogram in retail market. One-kilogram garlic was available at Rs 100-120, while ginger is being sold at Rs 200 per kilogram.
Cucumber is available at Rs 50 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 70-80 per kilogram during last week. Price for one-kilogram of lemon has been decreased at Rs 100 from Rs 200. Green chilli is being sold at Rs 80 per kilogram.
Similarly, one-kilogram colocasia root priced at Rs 50 against the rate of Rs 70 per kilogram in the previous week, ladyfinger at Rs 70 per kilo against the price of Rs 100 per kilogram, capsicum at Rs 80 per kilogram against the price of Rs 120 per kilogram in the previous week.
The survey noticed that prices of food grains have also been declined during the previous week. Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 145 per kilogram in the last week. Tota rice is being available at Rs 70 per kilogram against the price of Rs 80 per kilogram in retail market.
Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram in retail market, while the baisen is available at Rs 115 per kilogram in wholesale market. The retail price of one-kilogram sugar is Rs 55.
However, the price of black gram (dal mash) has increased at Rs 140 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 120 per kilogram in the previous week. Split chickpeas (Dal chana) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram, while price of red lentils (dal masoor) has decreased at Rs 90 per kilo from Rs 100 per kilogram in retail market. Split pigeon peas (Dhoti dal) priced at Rs 90 per kilogram.
Likewise, a one-kilogram white bean (lobiya) is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram. Red bean is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram. Whereas, the price of white big-size white chana is available at high-rate in retail market, as available at Rs 160 per kilogram.
Similarly, the retail price of One-kilogram yellow lentils (moong) is Rs 120. Dal chilka (green) available at Rs 120 per kilogram, while dal chilka (black) colour is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram
The prices of different brands/quality of cooking oil/ghee were remained stable in retail market as no significant increase or change was witnessed in the previous week, as available within range of Rs 120, Rs 140 and Rs 165 and Rs 175 per litre/kilo in retail market.
A slight decrease in prices of fruits has been witnessed in retail market during previous week as compared to the last week.
According to the survey, mango is being sold at Rs 120-150 per kilogram, green apple available at Rs 100 per kilo, while red apple being sold at Rs 200-250 per kilogram in retail market. Melon is being sold at Rs 40 per kilogram which was selling at Rs 70 per kilo during the previous week.
Apricot is being sold at Rs 120-150 per kilogram in the retail market. A one-kilogram plum is being available at Rs 120-150 in retail market. Litchi is being available at Rs 250-300 per kilogram. Grapes are being sold at Rs 200-150 per kilogram. Peach is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram.
Similarly, it noticed that a litre of fresh milk is being available at Rs 120 against the official price of Rs 90 per litre, while yogurt is being sold at Rs 120 per kilogram against the official rate of Rs 80 per kilogram in the retail market.
According to the survey, one-kilogram red flour is being sold at Rs 45, meda at Rs 50 per kilogram and fine aata is being sold at Rs 48 per kilogram in retail market.
