Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president and former chief minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Monday reassured that if PML-N gets power, it will ensure required supply of clean potable water to every residential unit in Karachi within next three years.
Shahbaz was speaking at an event of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). "We will bring Karachi's lost stature back with the help of provincial government and solve four mega problems of the city - water, load-shedding, security and solid waste management, if voted in elections" he said while urging federal government to grant an special budget for Karachi.
He said his government will make the city South Asia's most progressive port city. Shahbaz also discussed the importance of city's transport system.
PML-N government at the centre will also resolve the issue of collection and disposal of solid waste within six months through modern and scientific arrangements.
"Karachi needs large desalination plants for clean water to entire population. Also, more flyovers and underpasses are needed, otherwise the city shall be jammed after few years," Shahbaz added.
He said sit-ins caused loss to the country however, load shedding issue has resolved by 90 percent during PML-N's government.
Shahbaz said in 2013 the people of Karachi suffered through 18 hours of load-shedding. Our GDP growth was being affected and if there are protests for six months at a time, business will be affected. Speaking on the occasion, FPCCI president Ghazanfar Bilour prayed for Kulsoom Nawaz's health and said Shahbaz had presented a roadmap for the issues they face.
