Sindh Water Commission (SWC) on Monday announced to seal the industries, which would not install the treatment plants for industrial waste within the stipulated time period.
One-man judicial commission mandated by Supreme Court took up the issue of installation of treatment plants for industrial waste in its hearing. Owners and representatives of various industries appeared before the commission, headed by former Justice Amir Hani Muslim.
The commission directed Chairman Port Qasim Authority to lay sewerage lines outsides the industries, which should be connected by the industries after the contaminated waster is treated by the industries through a proposed sewerage plant after Novine Pharmaceuticals' owner submitted in the commission that a combined treatment plant would be installed for waste connecting to the sewerage lines of Port Qasim.
The commission granted two months time to the owner and Port Qasim Authority to install the plant as well as lay the missing sewerage lines.
The commission directed the police to produce the owner of M/s Oil World & Ghee Industry before the commission on Tuesday (today), who didn't appear in the proceedings on Monday. The commission was informed that no treatment plant was installed in the industry. It also issued same orders for M/s Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Light Industry (Flour Mill), Mandi Walla Motors, M/s COMTRAD, M/s Muhammad Naeem Zafar Rice/ Flour Industry, M/S Zubair Haroon Food Products Ltd, M/s Sadaf Enterprises Cotton Factory, Mahmood Baqi Petrol Pump, M/s Pak Arab etc.
M/s Hirani Pharma's representative informed the commission that there is not treatment plant in the factory. The commission directed to explain the reasons for non-installation of the treatment plant in the next hearings.
The commission directed Gamalux Oelo Chemical to submit the undertaking that required treatment plant would be installed within three months, failing which the industry would be sealed. It also directed to Sigma Pharma to submit an undertaking in the commission about the installation of treatment plant whereas Shujabad Agro Industry has been directed to submit the undertaking for installation of standard treatment plant in three months. The commission directed Platinum Pharmaceutical & M/s Karachi Grain to submit the undertaking for installation of treatment plants in three months, if fail the industries would be sealed. It also issued same directives for Faisalabad Oil Refinery, Palm Zone Pvt Ltd, Hudson Pharma, Saakh Pharma, The commission also directed M/s Muhammad Farooq Jumani & Others Flour Mills & Allied Products to install septic tank within two month.
