Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) expressed outcry over not taking action against large size banners, billboards and panaflex installed by the candidates on different roads of Peshawar and warned that the parties' workers would take to streets against it.
Speaking at a joint press conference at Peshawar Press Club on Monday, PPP Women Wing provincial president Nighat Orakzai and ANP provincial leader and candidate for PK-78 Peshawar, Haroon Bashir Bilour said that the Election Commission of Pakistan and local administration didn't take notice on their complaint about installation of large-size banners and billboards, which was a clear violation of the relevant rules.
Nighat Orakzai expressed dissatisfaction over the reshuffling of bureaucracy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She mentioned that services of top rank officials in Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan had relieved to the federal government. But, he said the officials had only reshuffled from one to another district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
She questioned the transparency in conduct of fair and impartial general elections under the presence of specific team of top government officials, which was earlier worked under former provincial chief secretary Azam Khan
PPP leader alleged the provincial secretaries of establishment, finance, health and higher-education departments would directly influence over the elections process. So, she demanded the appointment of On Special Duty (OSDs) officials to ensure transparency and fairness in conduct of general elections in the province.
