Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that his party will fight the general election till the last ball. While addressing the party workers in NA-131 constituency here on Thursday, he advised the PTI workers not to underestimate their political opponent, as the contest in this constituency will be tight. He revealed that PTI leaders Aleem Khan, Waleed Iqbal and Hafiz Farahat will spearhead his election campaign in NA-131.
"Lahore will decide the fate of Punjab, and the elections' outcome in Punjab will decide the fate of Pakistan. Those who practice politics of interest will be defeated and the country will see a change on July 25," he remarked.
Meanwhile, a party's spokesperson denied a news report that Imran Khan has withdrawn his nomination papers for NA-131 and added that the party chairman will contest general elections from this constituency.
Earlier, Imran met disgruntle PTI leader Waleed Iqbal and discussed grievances of the party workers from Lahore. While talking to media after the meeting, he said that he had a detailed meeting with his chief and raised objections the party workers from Lahore had regarding the distribution of party tickets. "It was decided that I will contest the by-election from NA-131 and Imran has asked me to start my election campaign. The Chairman has also asked me to lead his election campaign in NA-131," he added.
He also told the media that Imran Khan has assured him that PTI leader Syeda Sohail will again join the Parliament; Imran said that "those who were not given the tickets will have opportunities in future to contest elections from the party platform". Imran reached the provincial capital on Thursday along with his wife, Bushra Maneka, after a stop-over at Baba Fariduddin's shrine in Pakpattan.
Meanwhile, the party workers protested outside the residence of the party chief against the 'unfair' distribution of tickets for the upcoming general election.
