The Supreme Court Thursday accepted an unconditional apology tendered by a private media conglomerate Chief Executive Mir Shakilur Rehman and withdrew contempt of court notice against him. A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, had issued a notice to Rehman for his contemptuous statements made outside the Supreme Court.
When Rehman appeared before the apex court on Thursday, the top judge remarked that the chief executive and his channel should be careful in matters related to the judicial institution.
Clarifying that he did not intend to commit contempt of court, Rehman assured the court that he will be careful in future. He is also a defendant in a suo motu case pertaining to non-payment of salaries to staff.
