Khyber Pakhtunkhwa clinched the overall trophy of the 26th edition of the All Pakistan Games for Persons with Disabilities which concluded at Comsats University Sports Complex ground on Friday. Commandant FF Center Abbottabad Brigadier Bukhtiar Akram was the chief guest on this occasion. Former Director General Sports Tariq Mehmood, Tehsil Nazim Ishaq, Director Operation Syed Saqlain Shah, Director Games Niamat Ullah Marwat, international coach Syed Jaffar Shah, Manager Account Hamid Ali, Officials, players and large number of spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling events part of the Games.
Speaking on this occasion, Brigadier FF Center Abbottabad Bukhtiar Akram lauded the efforts of the Director General Sports Junaid Khan and his team for regularly organizing the event since 1992. He said it is actually the right step in the right direction and involving more than 600 male and female players from Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Islamabad and FATA areas with disabilities in the healthy activities.
Syed Saqlain Shah on this occasion informed the guest that after the successful holding of the Under-23 Games for normal athletes in which a total of 11500 male and female athletes took part in the 26 male and 17 female Games, Games for persons with disabilities organized in the same spirit.
All the players got full uniform, track-suites and shoes like the players got in Under-23 Games along with best trophies, medals, certificates while sports scholarship would be given to the position holders as well. He said the Directorate want that more and more special persons would be enrolled in the Games which is an annual feature of the Directorate General Sports Calendar.
In the last day event Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Spots Board defeated Bannu in the standing cricket by 30 runs. Sports Board scored 52 runs target in which Olympian Adeel scored 33 runs laced with three towering sixes and two boundaries. Bannu bundled out for 21 runs which Shakir and Nouman got three wickets each and Adeel got two wickets. In the wheelchair cricket Lahore Rost defeated Malakand by six wickets. Malakanad while batting first scored 64 runs in which Saif Ullah and Atiq scored 36 and 22 runs respectively. Lahore chased the target for the loss of four wickets in which Mashal hammered 34 runs, and Sabir made 33 runs.
In the wheelchair female final Abbottabad defeated SOP Peshawar by eight wickets. Peshawar scored 43 runs in which Zainab scored 21 runs, Urooj made 17 runs. Abbottabad in the reply chased the target for the loss of two wickets. Jabeen made 30 runs and Farhat scored 15 runs.
In the power lifting 40kg to 50kg Nawaz of Lahore won the got medal, Bilal got silver medal and Jaffar of GAD, in the 60kg weight class Zulfiqar of Peshawar got gold medal, Imran Uddin and Saddam won silver and bronze medal, in the male 70kg class Ibrar of Bannu won gold medal, Shah Faisal and Nisar of Abbottabad got silver and bronze medals respectively. In the 80kg class Nasir Butt of Lahore won gold medal, followed by Azam of Multan and Muhammad Fayyaz of Peshawar.
In the table tennis tennis Abdullah of Peshawar won gold medal, followed by Ibrahim international while in the wheelchair table tennis Iltaf won gold medal and followed by Ihsan Danish. In the Badminton female Fazilat of Peshawar won gold medal, Gulshan got silver medal, in the Women Powerlifting Gulshan won gold medal, Afshan Afridi and Farhat got silver and bronze medals.
In the women wheelchair race Zainab won gold medal, followed by Laila and Husna and in the wheelchair Table Tennis Women Zainab won gold medal, followed by Laila and Husna and in the wheelchair table tennis women Zaiba Barkat won the gold medal and Zainab Noor got silver medal.
At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies, medals and certificates to the position holders.
