Facebook ranked least trusted tech company, research shows
After numerous data breaches this year, Facebook was ranked as the least trusted tech companies with user’s personal information.
A new research conducted by a data-analytics/survey firm Toluna discovered that social media site Facebook lost public’s trust and was ranked as the first one in the list of least trusted tech companies, followed by Twitter and Amazon.
The research was based on an online survey of 1,000 respondents carried out early December. The results showed that 40% of the users didn’t trust Facebook with their personal data, followed by Twitter and Amazon, both at 8%.
Facebook bug exposed private photos of 6.8mn users to third-party apps
Other companies included in the list were Uber, Google, Lyft, Snapchat, Apple, Microsoft, Netflix and Tesla, in sequence of least-to-most trusted companies. Netflix and Tesla were the second last and last, respectively, with only 1% viewing these firms as the least trusted ones.
As per PCMag, in 2018, Facebook has gone through various troubles including the famous Cambridge Analytica, and moving on to other bugs such as the recent one that exposed up to 6.8 million users’ private photos to third-party app developers.
