Director Poultry Research Institute, Rawalpindi Dr Abdur Rehman said on Tuesday that Nipah Virus does not exist in chicken anywhere in the world. It was reported that it has been wrongly reported in social media about Nipah Virus which had been deliberately displayed to damage poultry sector in Pakistan by some vested interests.
Clarifying the report, Director Poultry Research Institute, Rawalpindi Dr Abdur Rehman said that this virus does not exist in chicken anywhere in the world now which was previously found in Malaysia during 1998 and for the last time it was reported in Bangladesh during 2004.
He said that after this period it was not found anywhere.
Dr Abdur Rehman said that the United Nations Organization, Food and Agriculture Organization and CDE of USA had already denied of having any virus of Nipah in any animal except pig and bat.
Dr Abdur Rehman informed that Poultry Research Institute, Rawalpindi had devised such a mechanism to analyze the samples of blood and meat of chicken and during 2017, two lakh such samples were scientifically verified and no harmful virus like Nipah were found in these chicken which could damage human body after its consumption. He claimed that chicken being produced in Pakistan is absolutely safe to eat and there are no infectious side effects of chicken and eggs.
