The administration of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) has issued showcause notices to more than 40 officials who were involved in the allegedly illegal appointments process and also issued the termination letters of 271 employees who were appointed through allegedly illegal way through advertisement No-48.
Registrar of the university, Adil Khan and spokesman of the university, Mian Saleem told the media that several reports appeared in the press about the alleged violation of merit in the recruitment conducted through an advertisement No-48 published in the papers on September 2015 for the appointment of Demonstrators (BPS-16), Office Assistants (BPS-16), Upper Division Clerks (PBS-14), KPOs (BPS-11) and Lab Assistants (BPS-7). The officials added some candidates also approached the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to challenge these appointments.
Adil Khan said that later on the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had also launched an inquiry into the allegations. They added that later on the university administration appointed a four-member inquiry committee on the directives of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 3 to probe any wrongdoing.
Mian Saleem said that Higher Education Department (HED) also issued directive to the administration in this connection. They further said that the inquiry report in Mashal Khan lynching case also mentioned it. They added that 10-member committee was also established in the syndicate meeting held on 26 February 2018 to conduct inquiry in this connection.
