District administration removed hundreds of banners of the electoral candidates from different areas of the provincial metropolis over violation of the code of conduct announced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Peshawar, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, who is also District Monitoring Officer crackdown has been initiated against banners displayed in violation of the code of conduct.
In this connection, the Additional Assistant Commissioner (AAC), Hamayun Khan along with the Chief Demolishing Inspector, Qaiser Bacha carried out operation at Bacha Khan Chowk and Dalazak Road and removed hundreds of banners and took them into official possession.
Similarly, AAC (Revenue) Naseer Khan conducted operation against banners displayed in violation of the code of conduct along with the officials of Town-II and removed hundreds of banners while AAC Niamatullah carried out operation on Kohat Road.
Furthermore, AAC Qaiser Khan Kundi conducted operation against banners along with Director Peshawar Development Authority (PDA), Imtiaz Saleem in Hayatabad and removed infringed banners from different roads and streets of the township.
According to the code of conduct announced by the ECP, the candidates have been allowed to display posters of 18 inch x 23 inch, pamphlet, hand bells & leaflets (9 inch x 6 inch), banners (3 feet x 4 feet) while portrait size is fixed at 2 feet x 3 feet).
Deputy Commissioner/ District Monitoring Officer, Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh has said that the code of conduct announced by the ECP will be implemented in any circumstances no leniency will be showed with anyone in this regard.
