The Lahore High Court dismissed as withdrawn a petition challenging removal of Noorul Ameen Mengal as director general of Punjab Food Authority (PFA).
The court on July 3 had sought detailed reply from the chief secretary and had also allowed Mengal to continue to work as PFA director general till further order.
The petitioner's counsel had pleaded that under the law the board of members of the Punjab Food Authority could remove/change its director general only and the government had no power to remove or transfer him. He also said that the PFA's board had not taken any decision on the removal of its director general. He alleged that the removal of Mengal had been done on political consideration. He, therefore, prayed to the court to set aside the impugned decision of the caretaker government.
