Provincial Minister for Food, Agriculture and Planning & Development Sardar Tanvir Ilyas Khan has announced a donation of Rs 20 million for Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan (MNSUAM) out of own pocket. This amount will be used for promotion of research in agri field.
He announced this during his visit to the university. The Minister visited various departments and reviewed research activities. The Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asif Ali and other high officials of the university accompanied him.
While talking to the students and faculty members, the Minister said that role of higher education in agriculture sector is very important in ensuring composite agricultural development of the country as it will transform the students as future leaders and researchers to steer the country towards progress and prosperity in different fields. He said that it is very important that students should take keen interest in research-studies as well as promoting creative-thinking so that they could find out-of-box solutions in their respective fields of research.
This would help the country go along the developed nations confidently, he added. He said that different steps had been taken by the Punjab government to improve the standard of higher education sector and pointed out that Punjab is the food-basket of the country which provides wheat, cotton and other agri-products to rest of the provinces. The students are our best ambassadors who can bring laurels for the country through their hard work in research and development, he maintained.
