Funds of South Punjab allocated to Lahore: Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said on Sunday he wants to make Pakistan a welfare state where justice will prevail and all appointments will be made on the basis of merit. "There can be no justice in a jungle. We cannot expect justice in animal kingdoms," he said, speaking at 'Strengthening Pakistan Convention,' organized by Chaudhry Rehmat Ali Foundation. He said he wants to make Pakistan a country having justice and where humans are valued and appointments are made on the basis of merit.
Imran also vowed to implement the true spirit of welfare state in the country as had been introduced by the Last Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) after coming into the power in Medina. He said he would rid under-privileged and weak segments of the society of poverty trap by providing them special incentives as are offered by a welfare state.
"We will make Chaudhry Rehmat Ali's Pakistan on July 25," he said, adding that PTI would specially focus on social justice and human development if the people repose confidence in it and vote for it on July 25 Elections. He said weak and neglected segments would be empowered and funds would be allocated for less-developed areas in the budget.
PTI chairman criticized the development model of last Punjab government, saying the later had splurged all the resources in already developed areas and neglected the development and uplift of under-developed areas of the province. He said that the funds of south Punjab were allocated to Lahore and this is why people of those areas are demanding a separate province. "Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government had spent half of its developmental budget on the development of Lahore city; whereas other areas of the province, particularly south Punjab, badly ignored," he claimed.
Imran said PML-N Punjab government had spent Rs 350 billion Rs 635 billion development budget for fiscal year 2017-18 in Lahore. He said PTI's (would-be) government would give special emphasis on health, education, clean drinking water, social justice and merit, and allocate special quota for disabled and financially weak persons of the society to enable them to lead a respectable life like others.
"A special amount from the National Finance Commission Award will be allocated for the development of least-developed districts of the country in order to provide equal opportunities of education, health, clean drinking water and transportation to every one in the country," he asserted. Imran said PTI would make arrangements to bring the body of Chaudhry Rehmat Ali in Pakistan for burial. Earlier, as the PTI chairman arrived at Jinnah Convention Centre, a few people chanted slogans in favour of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. PTI workers pushed them out.
