'Caretaker government has no authority or additional funds to facilitate anyone'
Provincial Minister for Finance, Excise and Taxation Zia Haider Rizvi has said that local governments have been released their due monthly share for payment of wages and day-to-day expenditures under the Provincial Finance Commission Award 2016.
While talking to media persons at his office on Monday, the minister said no one has been allocated any additional funds and no one has crossed any limits to facilitate anyone unlawfully in this regard, adding that neither the caretaker government believes in politics of prejudice nor it has any political agenda. "We have been given mandate to hold fair and transparent elections, maintain law and order and perform day-to-day affairs of the government. We hope all the institutions including media will extend their full support to us by playing their pivotal role as best stakeholders," he added.
He said the caretaker government has no authority or additional funds to facilitate anyone. The impression that the caretaker government is favoring some local governments ahead of elections is totally wrong, he said, adding the local governments including Union Councils (UCs) have their due share in the Provincial Financial Award.
Rizvi said the funds are being released to the local governments only for payment of wages and daily expenditures for which existing method and formula has been adopted. "Members of the caretaker cabinet have committed many times on numerous occasions that their mandate is only to hold fair elections in peaceful atmosphere." The caretaker cabinet always welcomed the media and it never concealed any facts from anyone.
