The same tree-type structure was also made available to the public, later doubling-up to provide high-speed internet connectivity to the customers in the shopping mall where it set up the tree. The tree then also became the biggest hotspot in Beijing.

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun informed that the tree was being planned since two weeks. The team initiated the construction at 04:00am and was completed at around 04:00pm. The tree also broke previous record held by a display using 504 smartphone units, reported Phone Arena.

Meanwhile, the all new Xiaomi Mi Play features a 5.84-inch screen with a waterdrop notch. It is also the first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek Hello p35 octa-core chipset, carrying a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It contains a 12MP + 2MP dual camera, and an 8MP front camera with face recognition feature, dual-SIM and 3,000mAh battery.

Also, the phone costs 1,099 yuan ($160), but is unlikely to make it to international markets as of yet. Chinese buyers will also get one year of free data, or free 10GB internet data per month.
