A divisional bench of Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday expressed displeasure over transfer of investigation officers in missing persons case and sought the progress report from law enforcing agencies by August 16. The divisional bench headed by Justice Khadim Hussain Sheikh ordered that investigation officers should not be transferred when it took up the hearing on similar applications on more than fifty missing persons case.
Father of a missing person told the court that his son has been missing for last several months. On every hearing, investigation officer is changed. During the proceedings in Joint Investigations (JIT), questions are asked from me whether my son has been traced or not.
The court showed displeasure over the transfer of investigation offices and asked the authorities concerned about it. It was informed that police officials have been transferred throughout the province due to general elections.
The bench stated that time is being given to police till the elections. Once elections are over, no negligence would be tolerated, the court observed.
The SHC also showed distrust over the progress report into recovery of missing persons case and said that what sort of this progress report is, which has nothing substance. The court directed the police to submit a progress report in the court by August 16 by removing all the flaws in the present one. The court also showed its annoyance over the inability of Additional Advocate General to submit the reply in the court despite its orders.
