A Joint Core Committee (JCC) on Great Peshawar Region Mass Circular Project took place between Ministry of Railways (MoR) and Transport and Mass Transit Department (TMTD), Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (GoK) on Wednesday.
The MoR gave technical advice to TMTD to firm up the feasibility of this project. Kamran Rehman Khan, Secretary TMTD claimed that this is the biggest transport project in history of KPK. MOR showed interest in facilitating GoK at all levels for this project, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
This railways project is a part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and will connect Peshawar with Nowshera, Mardan and Charsadda.
Its length is 118km approximately, including 22 stations. 43km long Peshawar -Nowshera track is also part of ML I with 24 hours' rail traffic. There is sometimes freight traffic on 23km long Nowshera-Mardan track as well.
The JCC was also attended by Ashfaq Khattaq, Team Leader CPEC, Maryam Gillani, DG Operations, Mazhar Ali Shah, DG Planning, Munawar Shah, DG Technical, Kamran Rehman Khan, Secretary, TMTD, Adil Jamil, DD TMTD and Fayaz Khan, Senior Traffic Engineer, TMTD.-PR
