Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced one-day mourning in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the Peshawar blast that martyred at least 20 people including Haroon Bilour, an Awami National Party (ANP) leader. PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry termed the attack on ANP's corner meeting as extremely 'brutal' and 'reprehensible'. He expressed absolute solidarity with Balour family and ANP leadership.
PTI shares the grief of the family and the party, he added. All the election activities in KP have been suspended by PTI on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the party flag of PTI will also fly at half-mast during the one-day mourning. Besides the martyrs, 30 others were also wounded in the attack in Yaka Toot area of Peshawar on Tuesday night.
A suicide bomber detonated his explosives soon after Haroon Bilour arrived in the area to address a corner meeting of his party. He was ANP candidate for the upcoming general elections from provincial assembly constituency PK-78. Later, the funeral prayers of Haroon Bilour offered at in Peshawar and laid to rest at the Wazir Bagh Graveyard. He has left behind a widow and two sons to mourn his death.
