The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday sought replies from home secretary Punjab and inspector general of police by Friday (today) in a petition of PML-N seeking directions for provision of FIRs registered against its leaders and workers ahead of arrival of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam at Lahore airport.
Representing the petitioner-party, Naseer Ahmad Bhutta stated that the police refused to provide copies of the FIRs registered against the workers and leaders of the party. He alleged that the police had also been harassing the party's leaders/workers.
The counsel pointed out that the president PML-N Lahore Pervez Malik approached the police officials for the provisions of the FIRs but they did not cooperate with him.
The counsel therefore asked the court to direct the police to provide complete record of the FIRs to the party workers. A PML-N candidate from PP-160 Yasin Sohal also filed a petition before the LHC for the provision of certified details about polling stations, polling booths and polling staff. Sohal pleaded that the Election Commission of Pakistan is bound to provide details required to every candidate in order to dispel an impression of possible rigging in the election.
