Inspector General Police Sindh, Amjad Javed Saleemi, has said that a rapid response force, with the coordination of law enforcing agencies, has been established to respond to any emergency situation during election. Speaking at a meeting of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said, security plan for election has been finalized.
He said that for patrolling on every 5 polling stations, a motorbike and for every ten polling station, a police van would be posted. He said more than 100,000 police personnel will perform security duties on the polling day.
He said street crimes in Karachi remained challenge, although incidents of terrorism, extortion, kidnapping, target killing and other heinous crimes have been whipped out. He said he himself monitors crime rates on daily basis and comfortably can say that street crimes were dropping down. He said detection of crime is the key principle of his strategy. He claimed that a number of criminal gangs have been apprehended during last few months and a list of absconders is being prepared to apprehend them.
KATI president Tariq Malik, senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Salman Aslam, Junaid Naqi, Farhan-ur-Rehman, Usama Abbas Niazi and DIG CIA Amin Yousafzai were also present at the meeting.
