Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), an alliance of five religio-political parties, while levelling allegations of massive rigging in general elections has rejected the election results, saying that the alliance will not accept result of any constituency until fresh polls are called.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman, MMA chief, while addressing a press conference here on Thursday rejected the election results and announced to contact political parties to launch a drive to declare election results null and void. "There seems to be a clear trend of interference in the polling process," he added.
He said that MMA will oppose imposition of martial law in disguise of civilian cover and start a massive public drive against those responsible for rigging. The MMA leader said that his alliance is not considering Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf as a political threat, adding, "We will directly deal with the forces which selected Imran Khan to Power."
Rehman said that the polls don't reflect real mandate of the people, adding that except Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, all the political parties have not only expressed serious reservations but also rejected the election results.
"It appears that the returning officers, presiding officers and district returning officers had no powers. The results were not issued timely as per set rules and regulations. Now Election Commission is providing results to candidates," he said.
The MMA leader said that they in consultation with other political parties will decide future line of action in All Parties' Conference and will not allow anybody to steal the mandate of the people.
The MMA leader said that a joint course of action will be decided in the All Parties Conference (APC) scheduled today (Friday) which is to be attended by Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPP-P) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, leaders of Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan), Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and other parties.
"It's not easy to impose a mandate," he took a jibe at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan. "We will contact parties to nullify the polls."
