Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) chairman Arif Yousuf Jeewa while congratulating Imran Khan for PTI's victory in general election 2018 recalled his promise of constructing 5 million low cost houses in next five years for neglected strata of the country.
Chairman ABAD appears optimistic and hoping that PTI government would deliver what they have promised. He believed that Pakistanis would witness positive change in the country within a short span of just 12 months.
He said although the plan to build five million affordable houses could be achievable, even if PTI government achieves half of the target i.e. 2.5 million housing units, it would be a milestone.
Furthermore, he said the construction of low cost houses would not only give a boost to the national economy but it would also play a proactive role in reducing unemployment ratio to a considerable level. He lamented that the former Mian Nawaz Sharif also promised to construct 0.5 million low-cost houses but he failed to fulfil it; adding that Asad Umar was a popular choice for the slot of finance minister because he had a potential to deliver. He also suggested reducing tax rates to single digit as it would not only help FBR for broadening of tax base but they also regain the confidence of the already suppressed taxpayers.
