Despite tight security arrangements made by law enforcement agencies (LEAs) during the last week, incidents of snatching at gunpoint registered an increase in the federal capital.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, over seven cases of snatching at gunpoint, seven other cases of motor vehicle theft, four cases of robberies, two cases of kidnapping and one case of murder were reported to various police stations of the city during the last week.
The most 'favourite' areas for the criminal gangs were found to be within the limits of Tarnol, Ramna, Sabzi Mandi, and Shahzad Town police stations. During the aforementioned period, Ramna police station registered one case each of robbery and purse snatching. One Noor Muhammad filed a complaint with Ramna police station that unknown robbers stole cash, gold ornaments and a cell phone from his house.
In anther incident, one Amina filed a complaint with the Ramna police station that unidentified armed persons riding a bike snatched her purse, containing cell phone, cash and other valuables. Shahzad Town police station registered two cases of motor vehicle theft during the aforementioned period. The auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIV-3271 of one Bahadar Zeb and stole a vehicle bearing registration number MNV-9860 of another Wajid Mehood.
Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases of auto theft. The carjackers stole a vehicle (LRQ-9735) of one Abid Mahmood and a bike (ADR-200) of another Waleed Sajid from the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station.
Tarnol police station registered one case each of auto theft and robbery. The auto thieves stole a bike bearing registration number IHL-3100 of one Sami-ur-Rehman. Another Shujah Rehman informed Tarnol police station that unidentified robbers stole cash and gold ornaments from his house.
During the aforementioned period, Koral, Karachi Company, Industrial Area, Secretariat and Golra police stations registered one case each of snatching at gunpoint. Bhara Kahu and Sihala police stations registered one case each of kidnapping.
