The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday rejected demand of resignation of Chief Election Commissioner former justice Sardar Muhammad Raza by some political parties that have alleged massive rigging in the polls. A multi-party conference that included Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal and others has demanded the chief election commissioner to resign from his position for what they called failure of the ECP in holding free and fair elections on July 25.
A statement issued by the ECP said that it has taken notice of "baseless statements" being given by some politicians in the last few days and condemned all of it. The ECP also said that it would apprise the nation today (Tuesday) in detail about its stance on the election and their results.
